Maj Gen N John George (Retd)

Commandant & President SSB Centre South, Bangalore (2018-2020)

Commissioned in the Indian Army through NDA (1981) Maj Gen George retired as Commandant & President of the Services Selection Centre South, Bangalore where his role was to monitor the functioning of three Services Selection Boards (two of the Army and one of Navy).

During his 38 years of service, he served in various important positions such as
- Maj Gen, General Staff Operations, HQ Central Comd.
- GOC Mountain Division (North East India)
- Defence Attache, Embassy of India, Moscow
- Instructor at Army War College, MHOW
- Brigade Commander, Mountain Brigade (North East)
- Adjutant, Indian Military Academy (Dehradun)


With leadership, training, administrative and diplomatic skills Maj Gen George provides valuable inputs to AFPI cadets in developing their personality, and leadership qualities and for SSB training.

‘Services Selection Board’ interview preparation happens over 2 years during the cadets’ stay at AFPI.

SSB interview preparation is all about developing personal traits and qualities which can be achieved only by long-term involvement and participation by the student. AFPI's daily routine takes care of that.

FACULTY

In line with the AFPI's objective of preparing NDA-ready students, extensive Military training is an integral part of the curriculum. Right from fostering Military standard discipline, turnout, respect and obedience to rules and seniors, the cadets are taught a wide variety of Military subjects like War Craft, Field Craft, Map reading, Ground tasks, Group tasks, Leadership skills, Survival skills, Military drill, Military history etc. The Military faculty consists of Ex-Servicemen and Officers who have served the forces with distinction and are very highly regarded in terms of nurturing potential cadets and turning them into lifelong soldiers.
